An introduction to Tabla

Tabla is a traditional musical instrument of India. It consists of a pair of two small drums which is played by an individual. Tabla is played such as a drum or in most of the cases it is played along with other musical instruments. It is also played for songs recording along with other traditional musical instruments.

Ustad (The Master) Abdul Sattar Khan “Tari” is a well known tabla player of Pakistan. He was the student of Ustad Miyan Shaukat Hussain Khan for almost eight years. Ustad Tari has lot of achievements as a tabla player. He was awarded as Taj Poshi (Golden Crown), Pakistan Pride of Performance Award and Hazrat Amir Khusrow Award.

Habanera

Introduction to Habanera

Habanera is a popular and most famous aria introduced in 1875 at opera Carmen by Georges Bizet. He adapted the score of this aria from “El Arreglito” which was originally composed by Sebastian Yradier a Spanish musician. Bizet took it as a folk song but was realized by the others that what he is using is a composition of some other composer who has died about 10 years before. Bizet added a note to the vocal score of Carmen to acknowledge its source.
